What did you do this weekend?
Are you up for fun, adventure, incredible experiences and making new friends? Are you looking for something to give you the edge in life? Then welcome to the RAF Air Cadets. Better known as the 'Air Cadets', we’re a UK-wide cadet force with more than 40,000 members aged between 12 and 20 years. We're sponsored by the Royal Air Force and can give you hands-on experience of activities and courses that will challenge and develop your skills to help you succeed in whatever you want to do. HRH The Duchess of Cambridge is also our Honorary Air Commandant! Here are just some of the amazing activities you can take part in.
Flying and Gliding
Flying is the whole basis behind the Air Training Corps; an activity loved by all who take part, from novice to experienced. Gliding is the younger brother to flying, a powerless experience located throughout the country, with scholarship availability to all experience levels.
Adventure training, the civilian side of the Air Training Corps, encompasses everything from climbing and kayaking, to orienteering and night navigation.
Shooting and Marksmanship
From air rifles, to, small target rifles, to semi-automatic rifles, shooting happens both on RAF Air Cadet and over military ranges. A clear learning progression path is in place to guide and coach cadets through each stage of their marksmanship training.
Duke of Edinburgh Award
Our cadets take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award (from Bronze to Gold) at a much reduced price to other operating authorities! We also provide full training, and the chance for younger cadets to take part in the RAF Air Cadet's Pre-DofE Award.
The 50-mile RAF Cosford and 100-mile Nijmegen marches are some of the most rewarding events available to cadets. Be part of a team to achieve something amazing!
Fieldcraft training, including parade night exercises, 24 hour, and 48 hour exercises, is our groundwork for leadership.
Music and Bands
Whether you already play an instrument, or just want to learn one, we have opportunities from local parades to national competitions for you.
BTEC and Academic Awards
Classification training covers much of the groundwork behind many aviation subjects, along with BTECs available in Aviation Studies, Music, and Personal Development and Teamwork.
...and so much more!
Sports, fundraising, community volunteering, confidence boosting, friendships, visits to military bases, overseas trips...
